Alex Morrissey
Alex runs Little Farms, a collaborative organic Farm Box grown in the Wairarapa, Aotearoa.
Alongside this she grows food in her market garden, the Good Garden.
Alex started out as an organic grower 6 years ago, leasing an acre of land and doing direct to customer sales. Through this experience Alex saw that one of the biggest issues facing small scale organic growers was market access. So she started focusing heavily on education and marketing to show people why they should be eating local organic food.
By working with other growers Little Farms is able to provide volume and variety every week of the year and reduce the amount of admin, logistics and marketing each individual grower needs to do. Over time more growers joined, and now about 10 growers contribute to the weekly Little Farm boxes.
In 2024 Alex received the “Emerging Leader Award” from Organics NZ for her work advocating for and supporting the organics sector.
Alex has a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts (majoring in International Relations and Development Studies) from Victoria University in Wellington.
She started her original market garden while working as a lawyer. When she had her first baby in 2020 she decided to lean into growing organic food rather than returning to the corporate world.
Alex loves the outdoors and experiencing new places They live on a regenerative sheep and beef farm which her husband
